ok, well hola.
being on teh activities for my ward, i have loved being able to plan parties...i feel it is not only a calling for the church, i am starting to believe it is a calling in LIFE. ah. i love it and enjoy it soo entirely much.
but thinking about the holiday season that is just around the corner, as a committee, we decided to incorporate more service into our activities. and what better way to do so than go visit care centers and sing wonderful hymns and Christmas carols to the INCREDIBLE old folk living there!
tonight was our first night of doing so. i got to go with my favorite girls from bullen and we just went and sang our hearts out.
i honestly was not exactly sure what to expect.
good thing that it was one of the most incredible and memorable experiences i have ever lived. we met some outstanding people. they didn't say much, but the few words they spoke to us hit us all straight in the heart. each one of them, you could tell, were so grateful for the visit and the love we were showing them.
the second lady we visited...her name was Ula Day.
we walked into her room after she welcomed us with a quiet and fragile "come in"
she was just laying in her bed but still invited us to sing her some songs.
we could all tell that she was touched by the music and the words of the songs we were singing.
when we were finished, she got out of her bed, and slowly walked over to us and individually gave us all a hug. the simple act of us singing her a song was nothing compared to the love she gave us and the gratitude she had made me even more grateful for what i have in my life.
it honestly is a time to truly be grateful for the lives we live. it can be taken from us at any moment. cherish it. tell the ones you love how much they mean to you. make every word out of your mouth a word of kindness.
its a blessing to be alive and well, surrounded by great people everyday.
keep it in minds throughout the year and all will be well.
