you live and you learn

i have been trying to blog about this ALL day.
i have about 4 different drafts but none of them seem fitting for what i am trying to say.

it could be due to the fact that i may or may not be a bit sleep deprived, but we will just call it writers block.

but i think all that really needs to be said is this:

i have grown in so many different ways this past year.
i have learned and experienced a great deal and i am grateful for every second.

i love my life and cannot wait to see what is in store.
i have a feeling it may get pretty exciting...

here's to the summer of 2011.
may it bring much happiness and many memories

i told you i had some news...

and i am definitely not a liar.

well this boy i know, he got called on a mission.

and it is really exciting because he is going to the LAST place anyone would have guessed for him.

after a VERY long day, i made it down to the flitton residence and there he was at the door with a look i have never quite seen on his face before - a look of anxiety/nervousness/hope/excitement/anticipation all mixed into one.
poor kid had to take a final and work all day before the big opening.
he loves this picture of President Monson, so i decided to get it and frame it for him.

i slightly doubted that he would actually last until 8 pm when his family planned on meeting for the reveal. but to my surprise, he made it.

...and it was time.

the guests overflowed onto the back deck, cameras in each hand, beating hearts racing, and tears beginning to break through.

he read the entire letter, tears streaming the emotions running rapid.

keaton never ceases to amaze me. the Lord knows him perfectly and knows there is someone who needs keat in yekaterinburg. there are so many experiences and opportunities that keaton needs to experience. i have never been more proud of him than i am right now. yekaterinburg is in for a treat!! even though russian is one of the hardest languages, the Lord knows that he can handle it. i have all the faith in the world that keaton will work hard, learn the language and be the best missionary out there!!

after everything, keat and i went out for a little celebratory dinner. about every 3 minutes he would look at me with shock still in his voice and repeat "russia" over and over again. it may take him a while to get used to the fact that he is going to be living on the opposite side of the world for the next two years. not to mention that where he is, it isn't unusual for the temps to get down to about -30 degrees. yeah...keat will be grateful for this utah weather after experiencing that!

i just want to say thank you real quick to all of my incredible friends, family, and keat's family. i love you all SOOO much and am grateful for always being there for me. these next few months, september to be exact, will be definitely a rollercoaster of emotions, but i know that i always have someone to help a sista out.

pretty dang attractive missionary if i do say so myself...

one last thing...

yekaterinburg just happens to be the city where anastasia's family was killed. sad, yet AWESOME. that may or may not be my new favorite movie!

I LOVE MY MISSIONARY!
