this summer has been splendid.
no complaints whatsoever.
i am excited for this new chapter.

we've gone country...

...thanks to my gal pals alexis and allie, we had a little getaway to beautiful heber! allie's wonderful mother made us dinner, we rode lexi's horses, got delicious ice cream at the famous "Dairy Keen", had a little bonfire, and slumbered the night away.
i loved being able to visit their homes, spend time with their families and just have a good time with my very best friends.

we pretend to be the "backstreet girls"

i love these girls.

...and THAT'S why i am going to have a photography minor.

tex and i are friends.

thanks to mel falling out of her chair, we had extra laughs around the fire.

we always have a good time. no matter what we are doing.

i am so excited to start this new chapter in my life with these outstanding girls by  my side. we have known each other for only a short period of time, but we all just "click".
i couldn't imagine college and my future without them.

i hate to admit this...

i am a bachelorette fan.
i know this isn't the first time i have mentioned this but...
it has gotten to a whole new level.

i literally shed a tear after the rose ceremony.
ames was definitely one of my favs.
what a genuine gentlemen he was...
silly ashley...
but still..
TEAM JP all the way!!!
what a SEXY man.

i took a little trip down to provo and visited my very very good friends mary and taylor.
i havent seen tay is such a long time so it was so great catching up on her fun married life and spending time together.
after the intense 2 hour hometowns episode, we went out for frozen yogurt.
seriously, i could eat that magical stuff EVERYDAY.
yummm.

beautiful tay

my bff mary

yummy fro-yo

finally reunited!!

test run.

thanks to my new obsession,
my monday was full of fun crafts.

soo fun and SOOO simple!!

supplies:

Felt {approx 1 sq foot}
Cotton fabric in the color of your choice
Fabric scissors
Necklace chain or pearls
Hot Glue gun

first, cut out 5 circles of felt, about 1 - 1.5 inches

now cut out bunches and bunches of fabric circles {same size as the felt circles}. i use the felt circles as a template for the fabric circles. and to save time, I stacked my fabric and cut out about 8 circles at a time. and don't worry if they are not perfect. this turns out great because of these imperfections.

now put a small dot of glue on the center of the circle and bunch up.
apply a drop of glue to the bottom of the scrunched fabric circle and place in the middle of the felt. continue this process until you have covered the entire felt circle with scrunched fabric circles. then repeat that process on the remaining felt circles until you have 5 mini pom poms.

place pom poms on top of the remaining felt in the arrangement you want your necklace. glue down each pom pom {except the top two}. glue the ends of the chain onto the last two pom poms. then glue down your last two poms onto the felt.

Now trim the felt around the pom poms until you're left with only the necklace.

i think i will make a navy one next.

there ya go lovelies.

enjoy.

a wee bit obsessed...

my first love.

this last week, i had the opportunity to help coach MHS volleyball at their tournament in dixie.
it was fun to get away and just be in the volleyball scene again.
i didn't realize i missed it as much as i do until the moment i walked into the convention center and saw the never ending rows of sport courts, heard the overwhelming whistles, and was forced to watch out at every angle so i wouldn't get smacked in the face by a ball.

volleyball has pretty much been my life since i was in the 7th grade.
it was the first thing in my life that i loved doing.
then all of a sudden, i woke up one day and wasn't doing it anymore.

it taught me how to be a leader, to work hard, and to show commitment and passion for something i love.
plus, i got to work my booty off everyday.
i sure do miss that.

but anyway,
i loved being there with the girls and helping them be better players.
the seniors this year were the sophomores my senior year.
crazy to me.

our varsity girls got better throughout the week, which was a positive sign.
the younger team went undefeated the WHOLE week.
they are so hilarious to watch. they have so much energy and it is obvious that they love this game.

good luck in your 2011 season MHS.
i will be cheering loud and sending good thoughts from Logan!!

there is a fun recipe blog i follow and it featured a delicious cupcake.
this wasn't just any cupcake,
it was a churro cupcake.

let me tell you, they were delish to the max.

YUMMO.
ingredients:

For the cupcakes

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 (1 stick) cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk

For the frosting

4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon

directions:
To make the cupcakes:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners; set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

In a large bowl, or the bowl of a standing mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, until just combined then stir in the vanilla and oil. Sprinkle 1/3 of the flour mixture over the butter mixture and gently stir in until barely combined. Add half of the milk, mixing until just combined. Repeat these steps with the remaining flour mixture and milk, ending with the flour. Do not over mix.

Fill each cupcake tin with 2 tablespoons of batter, or until the cupcake tin is filled half way. Bake the cupcakes for 14 to 16 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with one or two crumbs clinging to it. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.

To make the frosting:

Cream the butter and cream cheese together in a large bowl. Add the sugar, one cup at a time, beating well between each addition. Stir in the cinnamon until thoroughly combined. Then stir in the vanilla. Beat the mixture well, until light and fluffy.

Pipe onto cupcakes, sprinkle with a little cinnamon sugar and top with a drizzle of Dulce De Leche if desired.

day of independence

the fourth of july is definitely a fave of mine.

i grew up actually being in the murray parade for years because of softball,
and that was always the best.
we would have competitions to see how many people we could hit with our taffy.
we were terrible, i know.

but the fourth has always been about hanging out with our best friends and families and just enjoying each others company while celebrating our freedom.

this holiday was the first holiday that keat and i spent together as bf/gf.
it is crazy to think this will be our 3rd time celebrating it together.
gotta make it count since we will have 2 of them apart, right?
2009

2010

i always think of my dad when it comes to this time of year.
his birthday is the 1st of july and i guess that makes it pretty easy to connect these two together.

my dad is the greatest.
i haven't realized just how much he has done for me and my sister until the past few years.
last year, he was in china during his birthday and the 4th and it just wasn't the same here at home...
my dad is such a smart, creative, sarcastic, caring, and hard working man.
he has been the perfect daddy the last 19 years of my life.
as i get older, it has made itself apparent just how much alike we are.

typical goofball...

growing up, i know how glad my dad was that kace and i loved sports just as much as he does.
he was the greatest coach.
even though he didn't have any sons, he definitely got his fix on the sports...
and now he has jordan, mr soccer fanatic, and keat who is his new golfing buddy.
my dad has it made.

cheering on our angels.

so, happy birthday daddy.
i am excited to spend the fourth with you again, you always make it more exciting than the last.
i am so glad to be lucky enough to be your daughter.
you are the best and i love you SO much.

what a handsome fellow with his true love.

happy independence day
be safe, have fun
xoxo
